13 Favorite Vegetarian Restaurants in Boone, NC

13 Favorite Vegetarian Restaurants in Boone, NC
Before I get into my 13 Favorite Vegetarian Restaurants in Boone, NC. I wanted to share an experience I had in rural Alabama, many years ago when we stopped at the only restaurant we could find. I checked out the menu and found things such as turkey stuffed with ham. Hamburgers stuffed with chicken. Chicken wrapped in bacon. I could not even find a salad on the menu.
So, I asked our waitress what she had that was suitable for a vegetarian or a vegan. She thought for a moment while her finger tapped her face. Then a huge smile came over her face as she was eager to say – “We have Chicken.”
I explained that chicken is an animal so it would neither qualify as a vegan or vegetarian meal. She then said, “I am confused; the animal is a vegetarian so that makes chicken a vegetarian meal.”
I then asked if she could check with the manager and also the cook to see if something could be made that I could eat. The waitress comes back and says, “We found something you can eat, peas.” She then placed the bowl of peas in front of me with hunks of ham throughout.
I explained that as long as the ham was in the food, it was not suitable for my diet. She then stated the following once again, “I am confused; its peas so it is vegetarian.” Sufficed to say I only had water at the restaurant.
These days traveling as a vegetarian has become much easier than the years past. Most restaurants will have something more than a salad to offer us non-meat eaters. While traveling through North Carolina, recently, I came across some eateries that had vegetarian food I enjoyed.
As a result, today I want to share with you what I have found – 13 Favorite Vegetarian Restaurants in Boone, NC
1 – Coyote Kitchen Boone, NC
This is one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants in Boone, or at least for vegetarian options Now, there were lots to choose from on their menu. I settled on THE ROSWELL; which is a bean patty, with mixed greens, caramelized onions, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and sweet red vegan aioli. I was not disappointed with this choice at all.
Their website states they continue to adapt their recipes towards gluten-free diets. They currently have gluten-free bread and hamburger buns. And to have more items gluten free, they make their chipotle seasoning and Worcestershire sauce from scratch. They list the following items that contain gluten: Rosemary bread, Potato Kaiser buns, and flour tortillas. As per their website, everything else is gluten-free.
They even offer items for their vegan guests. They actually have a dedicated vegan fryer and no meat touches the flat top that cooks the veggies. Coyote Kitchen states that any menu item can be made vegan. They have tofu and tempeh available to substitute for any meat entrée. You can also leave off the cheese and can substitute more veggies, beans, and or protein.

Those who know me understand how much I LOVE Indian food. Whenever I travel, I do attempt to have at least one Indian meal. For this trip I had dinner at Mint Cuisine of India.
Sadly, their website needs an update. So, it took me a bit of research to learn what vegetarian and vegan options were available. However, the food was tasty, and the staff was super nice. If you are like me and have either a vegan or vegetarian diet, this place is a good choice for lunch or dinner.
The good news, there are separate sections on the menu detailing their vegan and vegetarian food available

3 – Stick Boy Kitchen Boone, NC
Stick Boy Kitchen located at 211 Boone Heights Dr, Boone, NC 28607. There are plenty of vegetarian options available. For this visit, I want specifically for breakfast. I had ordered the Mount Arti Sandwich. I love that this sandwich comes with organic spinach, topped with fried potato cake, marinated artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, basil pesto, and feta cheese.
Generally, this breakfast is served with two eggs. However, I substituted tempeh for the eggs. Now, as a vegetarian, you might decide to consume the eggs. For me, although I am not vegan, I would rather have tempeh over the eggs any day of the week.
Stick Boy Kitchen’s hours are Monday-Saturday 7 am-8 pm and is closed on Sundays
4 – Wild Craft Eatery Boone, NC
I had heard so many good things about the Wild Craft Eatery, That I had to check it out for myself. This restaurant is located downtown at 506 West King St, Boone, NC 28607.
The food was tasty, with many vegetarian options available. In fact, Wild Craft’s Eatery’s website boasts Amazing Vegan, Vegetarian & Gluten-Free Meals. I would agree that the food was well above average. Even though the menu was chock full of choices for me, I settled on the Cusco Cakes. This lunch dish is made with smoked gouda, yams, red peppers and also corn. Wild Craft serves it over black beans with chipotle queso, plantains, tomatoes, and sour cream. This meal is considered vegetarian and gluten-free.
Wild Craft Eatery had a delicious homemade hot sauce that worked so well on their food. Luckily for me, the hot sauce was available for purchase. So, I bought myself a bottle to enjoy at home.
Wild Craft Eatery is open Weekdays 11 am-9 pm, Friday and Saturday 11 am-10 pm and closed on Tuesday.
5 – Boone Bagelry Boone, NC
I dig me some good bagels. Luckily, Boone Bagelry sits right next door to Wild Craft Eatery. That fact saved me a bunch of research to find myself a hot bagel. They have a breakfast platter that they call “Vegetarian” This platter comes with two eggs any way you like them, three slices of tempeh, home fries or grits or oatmeal. I did enjoy the Vegetarian Platter.
Boone Bagelry also has Vegetarian Omelet that includes – Onions, Peppers, Mushrooms, and Tempeh. But for me, nothing beats an everything Bagel with Hummus Spread. I had that on another visit to the bagel shop. So good!

What attracted me to this restaurant was their build your own veggie burger. After choosing the Vegan Veggie Burger, I then ordered the wheat bun. However, they also have white buns, lettuce wraps, and even Texas Toast.
Next, you choose your style. I choose the Old School Style, which included ketchup, lettuce, pickles, tomato, and mayo. I did hold the mayonnaise. Of course, you could choose your own style and add whatever you wanted to the veggie burger. They even had spinach and jalapenos available as a topping.

This is great! I’ll definitely have to try these. I currently live in Charlotte, NC and there are some great vegan restaurants and food trucks here as well. Such as:

My husband and I have been vegetarian on and off over the years, my husband being the more stricter one. But for 2020 we’ve rededicated ourselves to being vegan and it’s been great. When you stick to the foods Jehovah God has created for us you feel better in every way. Thanks again!
