Jeera Aloo (Potatoes with Cumin and Spices)

When it comes to Jeera Aloo (Potatoes with Cumin and Spices), it is one of our most delicious Vegetarian Recipes. Technically, this is a Vegan Recipe as well. This dish is easy, tasty and is a wonderful side dish to accompany your Indian Food dinner.

Serves 4

This side pairs well with Naan, Roti and Lentils

  • Sunflower Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Potatoes  (Aloo)– 1 Pound Cut into 2-inch cubes and parboiled
  • Salt – 1/8 tsp
  • Raw Mango Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted Cumin Powder (Jeera)  – 1/2 tsp
  • Fresh Ginger – 1 tsp Minced
  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera)  – 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1/2 tsp (Either use a pestle and mortar to create a freshly crushed powder or use store-bought powder)
  • Red Chili Powder  – 1/2 tsp (Paprika)
  • Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp

What to do

1) Heat large frying pan on medium heat. Once heated add the oil.

2) Add the cumin seeds to the heated oil.

3) Almost immediately, add the parboiled potatoes. Toss to coat.

4) Do not use a utensil to mix or stir the potatoes. Doing so will cause damage to the tubers.

5) Toss infrequently. Cook until all sides begin to brown.

6) Add all spices and toss to coat.

7) Continue cooking until brown on all sides. Serve Hot

Happy Eatin’
